eSSL and ZKTeco · works with the internet down
Gym software with biometric door access, so the door knows whose membership expired.
Connect the eSSL or ZKTeco reader already on your wall and the membership decides the door. A lapsed member is refused at the reader instead of being argued with at the counter, and nobody has to remember to take them off the machine.
- Works with your existing reader
- No PC left running at the gym
- No static IP needed

Speaks the push protocol eSSL and ZKTeco readers already use. The reader dials out to Svich, so ordinary broadband is enough — no static IP, no port forwarding, and no PC left switched on in the back office.
Why the door leaks
Three things a separate access-control box cannot do.
-
“A member's plan ended six weeks ago and their finger still opens the door.”
Because the box on the wall has never heard of the plan. In Svich the membership and the door are one system: when the plan lapses past its grace period, that member comes off every reader automatically.
Every reader access removed on lapse, unprompted
-
“The receptionist has to be the one who says no.”
The reader says it instead, and says why. Twelve refusal reasons in plain words — no active plan, plan frozen, payment overdue, outside allowed hours — shown on the live feed so the desk knows what to fix rather than what to argue about.
12 reasons each written for the front desk to read
-
“The attendance data lives in the reader's own software, on a PC in the back office.”
Every punch pushes to Svich as it happens and lands on the member's own profile. Who is in the gym right now, busiest hours, and the paying members who have quietly stopped turning up.
Realtime each punch pushed as it happens
Access is a setting on the plan
Sell a plan that opens the door, and one that doesn't.
Door access is a checkbox on each membership plan, not a global switch. That makes it something you can price. A basic plan that works at the front desk only, a full plan that opens the door, and an off-peak plan that opens it between 6am and 4pm — three products out of one reader, and nobody at the desk has to police any of them.
- Per-plan door permission: the cheap plan simply does not open it
- Per-plan hours, so an off-peak membership is enforced by the reader
- A member holding two plans gets the union of both windows
- Grace days, so nobody is locked out over a payment landing on Monday

How it works
What connecting a reader actually involves.
No middleware, no server at the gym, no vendor engineer. You add the device by its serial number and it starts talking.
-
Your existing eSSL or ZKTeco reader
Svich speaks the push protocol these devices already use, so most networked eSSL and ZKTeco models work as they are. Fingerprint, face, palm and RFID card all arrive as punches; the reader records which one was used.
-
Nothing to open on your router
The reader is the one making the connection — it dials out to Svich and asks for instructions. That means no static IP, no port forwarding and no PC in the back office that has to stay switched on for attendance to work.
-
Enrol a member from their profile
Assign a device ID from the member's page and push it to every reader, then the member scans once at the machine to finish enrolling their finger. A fingerprint someone enrolled directly on the keypad reaches Svich too, rather than becoming a ghost the software knows nothing about.
-
The plan decides, in a fixed order
Every scan runs the same twelve checks in the same order — who is this, is the account in good standing, is anything paid for, does that plan open the door, is anything overdue, is it within hours. The first failure is what the member is told.
-
Attendance you can actually use
Who is in the gym right now, every punch on the member's own profile, busiest-hour insights, and “active but absent” — the members who are paying and have stopped coming. That last list is the one that predicts a cancellation.
-
Sensible defaults for real hardware
Readers double-trigger constantly, so repeat punches inside 60 seconds are ignored. A member still shown as inside after four hours is treated as checked out. Staff punch the same reader for payroll and are never gated unless you ask for it.
Around the door
What the rest of the system does with a punch.
A reader that only opens a door is a lock. These are the three places attendance data actually earns its keep.
Who is in the gym now, and who has quietly stopped coming
Every punch lands on the member's own profile. The dashboard carries the live in-gym count, the busiest hours across the day, and “active but absent” — the members still paying who have not scanned in for weeks. That last list is the one that predicts a cancellation.

A member who stops showing up becomes a task, not a statistic
Gone quiet is a filter, and a retention follow-up is a task on a named staff member with a status on it. The door tells you who is drifting; this is what your team does about it before the plan runs out.

The members who do turn up will advertise you for it
Anyone on a workout plan can export this card from their portal — the training heatmap built from exactly the punches your reader recorded, their streak, their personal best, and your gym's name along the bottom. Sized for Instagram, shared from their phone.

Who gets in
Every reason the door says no.
These are the twelve refusals, in the order they are checked. The first one that fails is what the member is told, which is why the order is a product decision and not an implementation detail.
| Checked | What the desk sees | When it happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Module | Access control not enabled | The gym is not on the access-control add-on. The punch is still logged for attendance; the door simply is not being controlled. |
| 2. Reader | Reader is disabled | You took that device out of service in Svich — a machine being replaced, or one at a door you have closed. |
| 3. Credential | Fingerprint/card not registered | The commonest one in real life: somebody enrolled a finger on the keypad without telling the software. Fix it from the member's profile. |
| 4. Credential | Credential revoked | That card or finger was withdrawn — a lost RFID card, or a member re-enrolled on a new one. |
| 5. Record | Member record no longer exists | The credential is mapped to a member who has since been deleted. |
| 6. Account | Member is blocked | Somebody blocked this member deliberately. The door is the first place that decision takes effect. |
| 7. Account | Membership inactive | The member is on the books but marked inactive. |
| 8. Plan | No active plan | Nothing currently covers this date, including the grace days you allow after an expiry. This is the lapsed member. |
| 9. Plan | Plan is frozen | They have a plan and it is on hold — a freeze they asked for, or one you granted. |
| 10. Plan | Their plan doesn't include door access | The plan is live and paid, and simply is not a door plan. This is the cheaper membership doing exactly what you sold. |
| 11. Money | Payment overdue | Off by default. Switch it on and an overdue installment stops entry — checked after the plan questions, so someone with no plan at all is not sent to the desk to pay for nothing. |
| 12. Hours | Outside allowed hours | The plan's own window, or the gym's if the plan has none. This is what makes an off-peak membership real instead of a promise. |
The defaults you start on
Nothing here locks a member out on day one by accident. Every setting that could refuse someone starts in the permissive position, and you tighten it when you mean to.
- Access hours: unset, which means 24/7
- Grace days after expiry: 0 — set it to the few days your members actually take to pay
- Refuse entry on an overdue payment: off
- Staff punches: tracked for payroll, never gated
Free demo
Bring your reader's model number.
Thirty minutes, screen-shared, with someone in India. Have the model number off the back of your reader to hand and we will tell you on the call whether that exact eSSL or ZKTeco unit will connect — rather than you finding out after you have bought. Then we walk the plan-level access settings against how you actually price memberships.
- 30 minutes, no slide deck. We open the real app and work through your questions.
- Built around how you work now. Tell us what you're using — a spreadsheet, a notebook, another system — and we'll show you what changes and what doesn't.
- No obligation, no card. If it isn't the right fit, we'll tell you.

Getting started
From a reader on the wall to a door that knows.
If the machine is already mounted and on your network, this is an afternoon.
Book a free demo- 01
Add the device
Register the reader in Svich by its serial number. It authenticates with that plus a device key, so the reader is a caller in its own right and never carries a staff login.
- 02
Point it at Svich
Set the server address on the machine. It dials out, Svich answers the handshake, sets its clock to IST and tells it to push every punch in realtime.
- 03
Decide which plans open the door
Tick door access on the plans that should have it, and set an hours window on the ones that are off-peak. This is the pricing decision, made once.
- 04
Enrol your members
Assign a device ID from each member's profile, push it to the readers, and have them scan once at the machine. From then on the membership does the deciding.
Pricing
Priced per gym. Door access is an add-on on top.
Prices are per gym or studio, not per staff member. Every plan includes the member portal, your public page and enquiry forms.

Which biometric readers does Svich work with?
Readers that speak the eSSL / ZKTeco push protocol, sometimes called the Push SDK or ADMS — which covers most of the networked models both brands sell. Fingerprint, face, palm and RFID card all work; the reader tells Svich which was used. If you are not sure about a specific model, send us the model number before the demo and we will tell you plainly whether it will work rather than finding out after you have bought.
Do I need a computer running at the gym?
No. The reader is an HTTP client, not a server — it dials out to Svich and asks for instructions, then pushes each punch as it happens. So there is no PC that has to stay switched on, no static IP, no port forwarding and nothing to open on your router. An ordinary broadband connection is enough.
What happens when a membership expires?
Once the membership lapses past the grace period you set, that member is removed from every reader automatically. Nobody has to remember to do it, and there is no window where an expired member is still walking in because the deletion was somebody's Monday task. Grace days start at 0; set it to however many days your members realistically take to pay.
Can I sell a cheaper plan that doesn't open the door?
Yes, and that is the point of making door access a setting on the plan rather than a global switch. A basic plan can work at the front desk only, a full plan can open the door, and an off-peak plan can open it only between the hours you set on that plan. A member holding two plans gets the union of both windows, so nobody is accidentally locked out by the cheaper one.
Can the door refuse someone who owes money?
It can, and it is off by default. Switch on “deny on due” and a member with an overdue payment schedule item is refused. It is checked after the plan questions on purpose — a member with no plan at all is told that, rather than being sent to the desk to pay for a membership they do not have.
Does staff attendance work on the same reader?
Yes. Staff and members punch the same machine and are told apart by the credential presented. Staff punches are recorded for payroll and the door never argues with an employee by default. If you want staff gated to the gym's hours too, there is a setting for it.
What does the front desk actually see?
A live feed of who came in and who was turned away, with the reason in plain words — “No active plan”, “Payment overdue”, “Outside allowed hours”, “Fingerprint/card not registered”. Alongside it: who is in the gym right now, busiest hours, and the members who are still paying but have stopped showing up.
Is door access included in the price?
Door access is an add-on module for GymOS rather than part of the base plan, because most gyms do not have a reader on the wall. Attendance itself — manual marking, QR check-in, the live in-gym board and the insights — is separate from it. Tell us what hardware you have on the demo call and we will tell you exactly what you would be paying for.
Let the membership decide the door.
Connect the reader you already own, tick door access on the plans that deserve it, and stop asking your receptionist to be the bouncer.
